Get to Know

Dr. David Steinberg

Dr. David Steinberg brings both professional expertise and personal understanding to every child he treats at Good Tooth Kids Dental. Growing up in Tucson as a passionate sports fan and athlete, he traveled the country competing in tennis before attending Dartmouth College, where he played collegiate tennis and earned his B.A. in Economics in 2008.

Though initially headed toward a business career, Dr. Steinberg discovered his true calling in dentistry—a profession that perfectly combined his love of science with his enjoyment of working with his hands. He went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in 2013, where he met his wife Colleen, who is also a dentist. He further refined his skills by completing a General Practice Residency at VA Sepulveda in 2014.

After settling in Sacramento in 2014, Dr. Steinberg spent over a decade as an associate dentist for a large group pediatric practice, gaining invaluable experience treating children of all ages and needs. During this time, he also became a father to three young children, an experience that deeply influenced his vision for what children's dental care should be.

This combination of clinical expertise and firsthand parenting experience inspired Dr. Steinberg to found Good Tooth Kids Dental—a practice built specifically with the needs of modern families in mind. He understands the challenges parents face when it comes to their children's oral health and strives to create positive dental experiences that set children up for a lifetime of good oral health habits.

Dr. Steinberg is known for his gentle approach and ability to connect with children who may be nervous about dental visits. He takes pride in employing minimally invasive techniques whenever possible and personalizing every treatment plan to meet each family's unique needs and preferences.

Outside the office, Dr. Steinberg enjoys exploring the American River with his family, playing golf with his sons at the driving range, and playing crossword puzzles—he's solved the New York Times crossword puzzle every day for 7 years and is even starting to construct his own puzzles with the dream of getting one published.

Your Child's Visit

Something to Look Forward To

We've designed every aspect of our practice to ensure your child's comfort from the moment they walk through our door. From a playful waiting room with a Lego wall to private treatment rooms that limit sensory overload, we've thought of everything to make dental visits a positive experience for children of all ages and needs.

The Experience

During your child's first visit, we'll take the time to get to know them and their unique needs. Dr. Steinberg will perform a thorough examination, discuss any findings with you, and create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your child's specific situation. We believe in meeting every child where they are, adjusting our approach to ensure they feel comfortable and in control throughout their visit.

What to Bring

To make your first visit as smooth as possible, please bring the following:

Your child's dental insurance information

A list of any medications your child is currently taking

Any questions or concerns you'd like to discuss with Dr. Steinberg

Your child's favorite comfort item (stuffed animal, blanket, etc.) if it helps them feel more at ease

Modern Comfort Meets Advanced Care

We've equipped our office with thoughtful amenities and state-of-the-art technology designed specifically to enhance your child's comfort while delivering the highest standard of dental care. From entertainment options that distract during treatment to cutting-edge tools that make procedures faster and more comfortable, every detail serves a purpose.

Comfort-Focused Environment

Our office features ceiling-mounted TVs with headphones in treatment rooms, a magnetic tile/Lego wall in the waiting area, and private rooms to limit sound and light for sensory-sensitive patients. We also offer weighted blankets, noise-canceling headphones, and other accommodations to ensure every child can receive care in a way that works for them.

Digital Radiography

Our low-radiation digital X-rays provide detailed images while exposing your child to significantly less radiation than traditional X-rays. This technology allows us to diagnose issues more accurately while keeping your child's safety as our top priority.

Intraoral Cameras

Our intraoral cameras allow us to show you exactly what we're seeing inside your child's mouth, helping both you and your child better understand any dental concerns. This technology improves communication and helps children feel more involved in their dental care.

Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)

For children who experience dental anxiety, we offer nitrous oxide—commonly known as laughing gas—a safe and gentle sedation option that helps them relax during treatment. The effects wear off quickly, allowing your child to return to normal activities immediately after their appointment.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

We exclusively use white composite fillings that match the natural color of your child's teeth, providing both aesthetic and functional benefits. Unlike traditional metal fillings, these biocompatible materials bond directly to the tooth structure, requiring less removal of healthy tooth tissue.

Fluoride-Releasing Glass Ionomer Fillings

For certain situations, we utilize glass ionomer fillings that continuously release fluoride to help prevent future decay around the restoration. These fillings are particularly beneficial for young children and areas that are difficult to keep clean, providing ongoing protection.

Bioactive Restorative Materials

Our practice stays at the forefront of dental technology by utilizing the latest bioactive materials that work with your child's natural biology. These innovative "Active" fillings help stimulate repair and remineralization of tooth structure, actively fighting bacteria and providing long-lasting protection.

Community Outreach

As residents of the same neighborhood we serve, we're committed to being active members of our Sacramento community. While our community outreach programs are still developing as we establish our practice, we look forward to partnering with local schools and organizations to promote children's oral health and provide education and services to families throughout the area.
